Application
Integration
Based on ever-changing
business demands, companies evolve into complex organizations. This
is also true of enterprise environments, which evolve proportionately
into complex systems, coupled with larger and larger recurring expenses.
Also, the requirement
to integrate applications is a pressing one for many companies.
Frequently corporate mergers and acquisitions require applications
to be merged or integrated. For other companies there might be an
urgent need to implement package solutions such as ERP applications,
yet have such applications draw upon and provide data to legacy
systems.
The challenge
for most organizations is to find the best architecture and tools
to support integration of existing applications and data, addition
of new packages or components, and extension of all pieces to provide
the custom functionality required for competitive advantage.
There are many
definitions of EAI depending on whom one asks or where sought out.
We define EAI as the unrestricted sharing of data and business processes
with any actor whether that actor is an individual,
connected application or data source in the enterprise. We also
proscribe this unrestricted sharing to occur across multiple, geographically
distributed enterprise elements. EAI is all about interoperability
and real-time information synchronization across multiple applications
and information sources. EAI enables collaboration, not just within
an enterprise but within a business ecosystem that includes a company,
partners, suppliers, and customers.
One needs to
share these data and processes without making sweeping changes to
the applications or data structures. In other words, we must leave
it where it lies in order for EAI to become cost-effective.
EMSolutions
